On-Call emerged in a spur-of-the-moment gesture. Referencing Peter Fischli and David Weiss’s The Way Things Go, it extends a narrative that suspends objects and moments in time, where a precarious arrangement of things intersects with both art and labor. The work poses an analogous question: how might the body and labor themselves be suspended within objecthood? Rather than submitting to the immediacy of performance, On-Call dwells on balance, tension, and negation as forms of labor.
